The Chinese organ clock for Android

The organ in charge now, where you are

In traditional Chinese medicine, twelve organs take turns around the clock, two hours each, and the Heart has the hours around noon.

Body Clock works out solar noon for your exact location and sets the twelve periods around it. So the clock follows the sun where you are, not a fixed table of clock hours.

How it works

The clock is set by the sun, not by the clock on the wall

  1. 1

    Your solar noon

The app works out the moment the sun stands highest at your exact location, every day.

  2. 2

    Twelve organs, two hours each

The Heart has the hours around noon. The other eleven organs follow it around the clock.

  3. 3

    Work and rest

Each organ has an opposite, twelve hours away. While one is in charge, the other rests and recovers.

Questions and answers

What people ask

Why solar noon, and not noon on the clock?

Solar noon is the moment the sun stands highest where you are. On your watch it comes earlier or later depending on how far east or west you are in your time zone, and summer time moves it an hour later. The tradition follows the sun, and so does the app.

Why does solar noon move through the year?

The Earth's orbit is an ellipse and the Earth's axis is tilted, so solar noon drifts by about a quarter of an hour either way through the year. The app follows it day by day.

Does the clock work near the poles?

Yes. There is a solar noon every day, even when the sun stays below the horizon all day, so the clock works at every latitude.

Does the app need the internet?

The clock is calculated on your phone, so it works offline. The internet is used only to load the map, to look up place names and to handle payments through Google Play.

Can I choose the language of the app?

By default, the app uses the language of your phone if it is one of its 34 languages, and English otherwise. On Android 13 and later, you can also choose a language for this app alone, in your phone's settings for the app.

How do I cancel the subscription?

In Google Play: tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to stop the next payment. You keep everything until the period ends.
