Saucervia Get the game

A space game for Android

Thread the gates. Every one buys you time.

Somewhere past the last charted star, your path begins: one ring of light in the dark, then another past it, then another past that.

All you carry is a clock, and it is always running down. Every gate you fly through fills it back up.

A gate ahead, and the clock running down

How it plays

The clock is always running down

Every gate you thread buys time back. How much depends on how cleanly you go through.

  1. 1

    Slip through the middle

The clock fills back up. Catch the edge and it fills a little less.

  2. 2

    Keep the streak going

String gates together and every one is worth more than the last.

  3. 3

    Never drift by

Pass a gate without threading it and you get nothing at all: your streak falls to zero, and the dark carries on taking seconds off you.

On the way

Rock, dead satellites and other saucers

Around you: rock that has been tumbling since long before anyone was watching, dead satellites still pointing the way they were left, spent rocket stages, and other saucers with somewhere else to be.

Behind all of it a ringed planet, and a band of stars close enough to count.

  • Swipe to steer, or fly on the arrow keys of a keyboard.
  • Double-tap to hang in place: the run pauses until you carry on.

Courses

Every stretch of space has an address

Every run is built from a short code, and the same code raises the same stretch of space on anybody's phone: the same openings in the same places, the same rock, the same silence.

  • Random

    New space every launch.

    Free
  • Daily

One stretch a day, shared by everybody, with your best score on it.

    Premium
  • Code

Paste in whatever you were sent, or open a shared course link.

    Premium
  • Design

Lay out your own stretch of space and let it loose.

    Premium

The designer

Draw your own stretch of space, then send it

The designer hands you the spacing, the size of the openings, how much is out there and what it is made of, and draws you a map of the whole thing before you commit. Reroll until you find a shape worth sending.

Send your code to someone and they fly precisely what you flew. Go down, pass on your score with the code attached, and wait to hear whether they got further.

  • A map of the opening stretch, seen from above, before you launch.
  • Every result comes with its code, ready to copy or share.

The saucer itself

Four hulls, eight finishes and a mixer

It is all paint: every hull flies identically. Whichever you settle on is the one drifting past behind the menu.

  • ScoutThe classic disc
  • CruiserWide and heavy set
  • InterceptorSwept delta wing
  • OrbiterRinged survey pod
  • Steel
  • Titanium
  • Orbital
  • Gold Foil
  • Carbon
  • Chrome
  • Cobalt
  • Copper

None of them right? The mixer paints the hull any colour you like. The Scout in Steel is free; every other hull and finish, and the mixer, come with Premium.

For the minutes you actually have

Stop when you need to, carry on when you can

A run waits for you, and the game gets out of the way of everything else on your phone.

  • Hang in place

Double-tap, or press Esc on a keyboard, and the run pauses. Pulling down the notification shade pauses it too.

  • Pick it up later

Set a run down mid-flight and pick it back up later. If Android closes the game in the background, the run comes back paused.

  • Upright or sideways

Turning the phone pauses the run instead of ending it, and landscape shows the world at the same size as upright.

  • Your music keeps playing

Music and effects have separate switches, and anything you already had playing keeps playing, with the game mixed over the top.

  • A keyboard, if you like

Fly on the arrow keys or WASD. Return or an arrow launches a run.

  • Feel every gate

A small buzz when you pass or miss a gate, and a click under every button.

Questions and answers

What people ask

Is Saucervia free?

Yes. Cadet, Pilot and Ace are free, on new space every launch, in the Scout hull in Steel, and there are no adverts.

Premium adds Legend, the daily course, courses from a code, the designer, and every hull and finish.

How do I send someone the course I flew?

Every run has a code, and the end of a run shows it, ready to copy or to share with your score. Whoever enters that code flies exactly the same stretch of space.

Flying a code you were sent comes with Premium.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The game plays offline. It only goes online to ask Google Play about a subscription.

What happens if I turn the phone or switch to another app?

The run pauses, and nothing is lost. If Android closes the game while it is in the background, your run comes back paused.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes. Steer with the arrow keys or WASD, launch a run with return or an arrow, and pause with Esc.

Which phones does it run on?

Any phone or tablet with Android 11 or later.

How do I cancel the subscription?

In Google Play: tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

You keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.
